What does Maryland Driver Education include?
Maryland’s certified driver education course consists of at least 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. DANTE’s full 36-hour program is structured around those components.
When are DANTE classroom sessions scheduled?
Planned classroom sessions are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM for the morning cohort and 6:00 PM–9:00 PM for the evening cohort. The classroom cycle runs for two weeks.
Are classes available in English and Spanish?
DANTE plans English and Spanish class options. Specific cohort availability will be confirmed during enrollment.
Can I request behind-the-wheel training separately?
Yes. DANTE lists a two-hour behind-the-wheel session for $95, subject to instructor, vehicle, and scheduling availability.
Who may need the Driver Improvement Program?
Maryland’s DIP may apply to drivers referred by a District Court judge, an Administrative Law Judge, drivers who accumulate certain points, or qualifying provisional-license violations. Follow the instructions in your MVA or court referral.
Is Roadway Safety separate from the former Alcohol & Drug Program?
No separate course is needed. Maryland’s current three-hour Roadway Safety Driving Education Program replaced and expanded the former 3-Hour Alcohol and Drug Education Program. It applies to certain applicants, including some applicants with a foreign-country or Armed Forces license. Eligibility should be confirmed individually.
Can I rent a DANTE vehicle for my MVA skills test?
DANTE plans to offer an eligible, insured driving-school vehicle for scheduled Maryland MVA behind-the-wheel tests. Availability will depend on the test location, scheduling, driver eligibility, insurance requirements, and final driving-school approval.
TAG & TITLE
What Tag & Title services is DANTE preparing to offer?
Planned services include eligible vehicle registration transactions, title and ownership transfers, registration renewals and duplicate documents, tag return assistance, notary services, and transaction guidance.
Can DANTE process Tag & Title transactions now?
Not yet. DANTE will begin processing title-service transactions only after the required Maryland MVA title-service, ERT, and other applicable approvals are effective. You may submit an information request now.
What documents should I bring?
Requirements depend on the transaction. You may need identification, ownership documents, proof of insurance, lien information, signatures, or other supporting records. Contact DANTE with the transaction type before visiting.
What are DANTE’s office hours?
Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Sunday closed. After-hours assistance is available by appointment.
